'Saved By the Bell' New Movie 2014 Cast News: Original Stars and 'The Unauthorized' Story Based on Dustin 'Screech' Diamond's 'Behind the Bell' Book (VIDEO)
The original stars from the hit NBC teen comedy series 'Saved By the Bell' recently commented on the upcoming movie based on former cast member Dustin Diamond's (aka Screech Powers) controversial 'Behind the Bell' book.
"Everything I've heard about his book is that it is negative, and I don't remember those things because my experience on the show was very positive," said Mark-Paul Gosselaar to HuffPost Live in reference to the book and the aforementioned movie that will appear on the Lifetime network next week.
Diamond claimed in the book that Gosselaar took steroids towards the end of 'Saved By the Bell' high school years.
"Well (Gosselaar) admitted it to me when we were sitting in a limo. He told me straight out, face to face, so it's kind of hard to refute that. Plus, you can't lie to your eyes. If you watch the college years you can see massive amount, 25 pounds of growth occur in about two months," wrote Diamond in his book, according to a Huffington Post article in 2009.
Gosselaar is best known for his role as the cunning protagonist Zack Morris who constantly broke 'the fourth wall' on the popular series that aired on NBC network from 1989 to 1993.
The series was a reboot from the 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss' series which debuted on the Disney Channel from 1988 to 1989.
Along with Gosselaar and Diamond, Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) and Dennis Haskins (aka Mr. Belding) also reprise their roles in 'Saved By the Bell' after they made their debut in the above-mentioned Disney Channel series nearly 30 years ago.
"There just wasn't any craziness," said Haskins to TMZ on August 26 in reference to Diamond's notorious book about what allegedly happened behind the scenes of the teen sitcom, "It was like, yeah, people dated each other. Okay, so what?"
After the 'Saved by the Bell: The College Years' (1993-94), Haskins reunited with Diamond when they both co-starred on 'Saved by the Bell: The New Class' from 1993-2000.
Haskins revealed whether or not he will watch the provocative TV movie when it airs next week.
"I was there. I don't need to watch it. I know what happened and what didn't happen," said Haskins.
The 'Saved By the Bell' also co-starred Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano), and 'Extra' host Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater). The 'Saved By the Bell' movie will air at 9 pm EST on Labor Day (September 1) on the Lifetime network.
