San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland A's Preview & Livestream

The Oakland Athletics hope keep the momentum going against their in-state, bay-area rivals, the San Fransisco Giants. The red-hot A's look to turn around their performance against the Giants as their rivals come to town this afternoon.

Oakland (28-23) holds the advantage as 47-45 against San Francisco during the regular season, most of those wins came before 2008. The last several years have belonged to the Giants. They've lost 17 of the last 28 games against San Fransisco, but both teams have performed well in each of these seasons. Since both teams have done well, this matchup could be more interesting. Both have 28 wins, are competitive in their division, and have made trips to the postseason in the last several years.

If you're a fan of the Oakland-San Fransicso rivalry, you'll need to make sure that you catch the entire 4-game series, as this will be the only one this year. "I've often said that people in the Bay Area, it's an exciting time in the baseball season for them, because everyone's watching," A's manager Bob Melvin said on the team's official website.

Melvin knows the gravity of this series, stating that it's more than just inter-league play to them. "You can say all you want that it's just another team, another four games, and it is another team and another four games, but in the Bay Area it takes on more importance than that," he added. "Everyone's watching. Stands are packed, whether it's our place or their place. It's a raucous crowd, our side and their side. It's kind of cool."

The A's have won eight of nine overall and capped a 5-1 trip to Texas with a three-game sweep of Houston. Rookie Nate Freiman homered and had three RBIs while Yeonis Cespedes added two hits in a 6-2 win Sunday. Oakland scored 23 runs against the Astros. Cespedes has recorded at least a hit in eight straight games, but went 2 for 12 with seven strikeouts at home against the Giants last year.
