Samsung Gear 2 Neo Specs Review: Smartwatch Similar to Galaxy Gear 2 But $100 Cheaper Sans Camera
Samsung revolutionized the smartwear market less than a year ago with their original Galaxy Gear, and have since expanded on it with their new Gear Fit, Gear Live, and Gear 2 Neo. The South Korean tech titan's Gear 2 Neo is similar to the original Galaxy Gear 2 device, however, it's $100 cheaper.
All the latest Samsung smartwear variants have a lot of features in common, but it's the slight differences that matter most when choosing one to purchase. The aforementioned models have interchangeable straps, dust and water-resistant hardware, customizable themes, and seamless synchronization with Android smart phones. The devices also have the ability to receive real-time notifications and make phone calls, much like a smartphone, but without the hassle of having to pull it out of a purse or pocket.
What sets the Gear 2 Neo apart from the Galaxy Gear 2, for the most part, is that it lacks a camera. The Neo features 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, which provides crystal clear screen quality. The smartwatch has a Gyroscope, heart rate sensor, an accelerometer, built in Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and is certified dust and water resistant. With regular use, the battery will last two to three days, but with minimal use, it can last up to six.
The Samsung Gear 2 Neo was launched at the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain held in February of this year, and is currently available on the market. The price of the device is about $195, which is nearly $100 cheaper than the Galaxy Gear 2, that runs for $285.
