Samsung Galaxy X Release Date, Specs, Price Rumors: Foldable Phone Set To Release In 2017?

Samsung X, the result of years of research and development for the cutting-edge technology by the South Korean tech company, still has no exact release date but recent reports claimed that it might drop anytime in 2017.

The report from Bloomberg quoted IBK Securities Co. analyst Lee Seung Woo as saying that the South Korean company will change the game after the release date for the Samsung X is announced.

"Next year is a probable scenario. Their biggest obstacle was related to making transparent plastics and making them durable, which seems resolved by now," he said.

The development of Samsung X is so cool that it has its own codename, "Project Valley." Initial rumors claimed that there are currently one or two phones in development and both, or one of them, will be released in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The timing is important, said the report, in order to give the South Korean electronics company the running start over the planned OLED screen by Apple for its iPhones.

As to the specs for Samsung X, Digital Trends speculated that the two phones will have two different processors, a Snapdragon 620 and Snapdragon 820. They may also feature a 3 GB of RAM and non removable battery.

But the specs for the Samsung X could still change because 2017 is still a long way yet.

Meanwhile, because of the cutting-edge technology, the Samsung X won't come cheap. According to Tech Times, the price could be upward of $650. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait for the release date to confirm the above price and specs.
