Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date: Review of Specs, Features and Rumors of New Device

Samsung Electronic's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, is not out on the market yet, but techies are already flocking to forums and tech sites to find out the specs and the features of the device.

2014 has seen some major flagship smartphones launched including Apple's iPhone 6, Google Nexus 6, and Samsung's very own Galaxy Note 4. This has led many Samsung fans looking for answers about a successor to the Galaxy S5.

According to PC Advisor, the Korean tech giant has routinely launched one flagship smartphone per year and it speculated that the Galaxy S6 will be released in the coming Mobile World Congress in March 2015.

Rumor has it that the Galaxy S6 will sport a Super AMOLED screen, just like other phones Samsung has launched.

The Galaxy S6 may also have bigger screen based on the trend of larger smartphone displays today. According to the report, the Galaxy S6 could have a display as large as 5.5-inches.

The Galaxy S6 may also have either a Quad HD (1440 x 2560) screen resolution similar to that of LG's flagship G3 or 4K (2160 x 3840), although the latter seems bleak as that reportedly uses up a large part of the battery life.

In terms of the design, Value Walk reports that the new phone will sport metal casing just like the recently launched Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4-unlike its predecessor, the S5 which has reportedly received negative feedback for its plastic build.

Furthermore, Galaxy S6 may have Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB RAM and the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and 64-bit processor.

Other features include a faster charging technology, waterproofing, UV sensor, dust-proofing, 3300mAh battery and multidirectional microphones.

The Snapdragon 808 supports up to 1600 x 2560 displays while the 810 processor supports the 4K resolution.

Lastly, the Galaxy S6 camera is said to remain at 16-megapixels, but might just be upgraded to 20-megapixels.
