Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One Specs: Hands On Review [VIDEO], Nokia Lumia 920, Sony Xperia Z Still Lacking

With the exception of the iPhone 5S, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One are the most talked about smartphones of 2013.  Apple, the reigning king might have finally met its match with the latest batch from HTC and Samsung.  The Nokia Lumia 920 and Sony Xperia Z are gaining momentum but still not top tier contenders.

But what's the difference between the GS4 and HTC One? How do you decide which to buy?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is not shaping up to be the phone everyone hoped it would be. Though it's definitely an upgrade from the Galaxy S3, the S4's battery, web browsing, and video playback are still suspect.

The Galaxy S4's screen is probably the biggest upgrade. The Galaxy S4 now boasts a huge 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution at 441ppi.

The HTC One has a 4.7-inch LCD screen. Thought it's a little smaller than the Galaxy S4 and has the same resolution [1,920 x 1,080] the HTC One has a higher pixel density [468 ppi].

The Galaxy S4 runs on a 2,600mAh battery that can be removed, making repairs and replacements much more user-friendly. The HTC One runs on a 2,300mAh battery and is not removable, forcing the owner to send the entire phone in for repairs.

As far as operating systems go, the Galaxy S4 comes equipped with the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. HTC One owners will come with a slightly older Jelly Bean OS, Android 4.1.2. Though the difference is marginal, potential smartphone buyers might opt for the most cutting-edge option available.
