Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Release Date Before Berlin IFA 2014, Ahead of Apple iPhone 6 Launch
If a recent report is accurate, then South Korean tech titan Samsung is desperate to beat Apple by introducing its upcoming smartphone, Galaxy Note 4, on Sept. 3, just two days prior to the commencement of the IFA trade show in Berlin.
The report seems to be authentic as Samsung generally launches its Note series smartphones during or around the IFA trade show, and they are likely to do the same for the 2014 version. The report, published by the Korea Times, states that Samsung plans to release Galaxy Note 4 prior to Apple launching its next-gen iPhone 6, which is also being speculated to have a September release.
Rumors are also afloat that Samsung is preparing an official invitation for the media, as well as other industry members, for the launch event of the Galaxy Note 4.
Korea Times quotes an executive of a top Samsung supplier, saying, "Samsung will hold an event to announce the Note 4 on Sept. 3, just few days before this year's IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany -- Europe's biggest technology exhibition."
In June, there were reports saying that Samsung would commence mass production of the Galaxy Note 4 in July and might release the device worldwide "immediately" after an announcement in this regard at the 2014 IFA in Berlin. The report further stated that the Galaxy Note 4 will come with improved hardware specifications with a view to retain current users of Galaxy-branded smartphones as well as to draw in new customers.
Meanwhile, SamMobile states that launching the Galaxy Note 4 earlier than expected will facilitate Samsung in making up for a drop in profits in the second quarter of 2014.
It is speculated that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will sport a 5.7-inch flat OLED screen and have a metal frame. It is also rumored that Samsung will showcase a curved OLED version of the Note 4 at the IFA, but the curved version is not expected to be released on the market anytime soon.
Korea-based Samsung told Korea Times, "The Note 4 will be the first smartphone to incorporate an ultraviolet sensor. The sensor can measure UV radiation and offer index levels to Note 4 users inside the 'S Health' application."
Rumors are also rampant that the upcoming device will be powered by an Exynos 5433/Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, a 16-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX240 sensor and optical image stabilization, an ultraviolet sensor and Android 4.4.3 KitKat.
