Samsung Galaxy Alpha Release Date, Specs: August 15 Pre-Order and September 12 Launch?

The ever expanding line of Samsung smartphones has officially announced its latest addition to the family, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

Contrary to previous beliefs that the Alpha will start a string of metal-clad smartphones from the South Korean technology giant, the Alpha only features metal frames, borders and home button, although the latest Smartphone from Samsung does look refreshing compared to all the previous models' identical looks.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a super-AMOLED led display measuring 4.9 inches, with a pixel resolution of 720 x 1280 and cutting edge PenTile pixel grouping. The top of the line variant of the Alpha holds a powerful Exynos Octa-Core processor, while the middle class variant holds an also powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core, along with an LTE Cat. 6 support capability.

On the hardware part, Samsung Galaxy Alpha is equipped with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, but has no room for external expansion. Its software will run on Android v4.4.4 KitKat Operating System, and carries a standard 1860 mAh battery, which fell short of expectations. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha's main camera boasts of 12.1 megapixel ability, while the secondary (front-facing camera) is 2.1MP.

The latest Samsung Galaxy phone will be available for pre-order on August 15, according to some Russian blogs, and will eventually be available on the market by September 12. According to reports, Samsung Galaxy Alpha will retail for nearly $700 equivalent in Russian Rubles, but is said to be priced at just a little under $600 USD in the United States.
