Ryan Gosling Film Gets Booed At Cannes Film Festival (VIDEO)
Ryan Gosling has been on a roll lately. He is one of Hollywood's golden boys and most films he is a part of have good success.
However, his good run has seemed to end, at least for one film judging the audience reaction at Cannes Film Festival.
The movie is called, "Only God Forgives" and it was literally booed at by the audience as they viewed it and obviously did not get very good reviews afterwards.
Many thought that the movie was too violent and graphic in nature, but according to director Nicolas Winding Refn, that is what he likes. Gosling paired with Refn for the movie Drive that won him best director in 2011. Seems this movie will not have the same appeal.
Even after watching the trailer, you could presume that it is going to be a very violent and graphic film that could be unsettling.
Scott Thomas herself admitted that "this kind of film is really not my thing," adding "films where this kind of violence happens I don't enjoy watching." However, she wanted to get involved in something "hyper violent and quite disturbing" and "play this wild, savage person."
Gosling actually wasn't in attendance for the festival this year because of a commitment to "How To Catch A Monster", which he's directing right now in Detroit. Good for him he wasn't, because I'm sure that would have been very uncomfortable to sit through.
"Can't believe I'm not In Cannes," Gosling wrote in a note to Cannes director Thierry Fremaux. "I was hoping to come but I'm on week three shooting my film in Detroit. Miss you all. Nicolas, my friend, we really are the same person in different dimensions. I'm sending you good vibrations."
Would you still go see the Gosling movie "Only God Forgives" after hearing this? Maybe it will increase intrigue in more people to actually go see it. However, it could very well leave come disturbing images in your mind that you might want to get out a lot quicker than you can.
