The much fancied Royal Challengers Bangalore face a spirited Kings XI Punjab in the 18th match of the Indian Premier League at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai, on Monday 10.30 A.M. ET.

Bangalore, despite their convincing win in the first two outings against Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians, seem to be in disarray following the team's unexpected defeats in the last two matches to Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. They need to sort out a number of issues before they take on the strong and spirited Punjab men, who have won all their four fixtures so far with comfortable margins.

Bangalore has been lacking consistency as after their superb wins in the first two matches, they were completely out-maneuvered by Rajasthan Royals. The team scored the third-lowest total of IPL so far - setting a meager target of 71 runs. The absence of the West Indies hard-hitter Chris Gayle, who is still nursing a sore back, seems to be haunting skipper Virat Kohli, who has to largely depend on Yuvraj Singh to keep the score board ticking.

Kohli would certainly like to forget the match as soon as possible and perk up his boys to put up a spirited fight against Punjab, the only team to remain unbeaten so far.

On the other hand, Punjab has been the most consistent team so far. Barring their match against Kolkata, which was won due to their bowlers' performance, it is their batsmen, especially Glen Maxwell and David Miller, whose explosive batting enabled the side to win the other three matches against Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.

Another advantage for Punjab is that their veteran batsman Virender Sehwag, who switched over from Delhi this season, is gradually returning to his fiery form. His decent contributions during the last few matches have helped Punjab to enjoy a solid beginning. Now, the team is looking up to the other opener Cheteshwar Pujara to regain his form and help the team become virtually invincible.

Therefore, Bangalore needs to put in some additional efforts if they want to beat Punjab and climb up the league table. Currently, they are in the third position with four points along with Kolkata, Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals.
