Fans of ABC Network's Rookie Blue tend to root for Andy in her day to day decisions with other Toronto "15 Division" cadets. However, with the upcoming Season 5, a new character will emerge who tests Andy's mettle and is likely to make her consider stepping off the force.

Duncan, stepson of the police commissioner, will be an obstacle with which Andy must struggle to overcome. Immediately pegged as a new antagonist, Executive Producer Tassie Cameron told TVLine, "Duncan is a real professional antagonist for Andy McNally this first half of the season,"

"He's a well-connected young man. So it's going to really prove challenging for Andy. We're finally allowing ourselves to take a look at some politics of the force - old guard versus new guard. Obviously, our main characters are the new guard of policing. We're interested in the friction between the very, very old school institution and the young, fresh faces with idealism and a new way of doing things and how those two types of policing can come in conflict with each other."

Adding a real-life element to Rookie Blue Season 5 is an interesting course to take with the series. Bringing the dramas from behind the scenes at police headquarters and their hierarchies, will push the series in a very genuine and original direction.

Conflicts will certainly arise for Andy and her fellow five-year veteran officers. Police commissioner and his stepson Duncan believe in tradition and old-fashioned ways of thinking; this directly opposes Andy's style of policing. Fans should keep an eye out for changes in her attitude at the work place after her recent decision to change her life in a very drastic way.

Rookie Blue will premiere its fifth season on June 19, 2014 (ABC Network).
