Robin Williams Cause of Death, Wife Susan Schneider Issues Statement
Robin Williams, an actor known for his performances in comedic movies like 'Mrs. Doubtfire' and 'Patch Adams', died late Sunday night at the age of 63. According to reports, his personal assistant found the Oscar winner dead at his Marin home in California shortly before noon the day after.
William's wife, Susan Schneider, was reportedly in their house during the actor's time of death. Schneider stated that she went to bed around 10:30 pm Sunday, and left their home in the morning, assuming that her husband was still sleeping.
Williams was not found until his personal assistant went to check on him when no one was answering the door. He was then found in a bedroom hung with a belt tied around his neck. Lt. Keith Boyd of the Marin County Sheriff's office, said that autopsy report from Williams' death indicate that he died of asphyxia, but there was no sign of physical altercation or struggle, and that the report also showed traces of toxic substances in his body.
According to Boyd, investigators will keep digging, until the exact time of his death is determined. He also added that toxicology tests are in the works, but the results may take weeks before they are completed.
Robin Williams' most notable role in film was the role of Sean Maguire in 'Goodwill Hunting', where he garnered the prestigious Oscar Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Colleagues, friends, and fans from all over the world have recently paid tribute in memory of Williams. His daughter Zelda, is among those who paid tribute to the late actor.
Robin's wife urged his fans to remember the comedian for all the "laughter he gave millions" and not to focus upon his death.
