Robin Thicke, Paula Patton Divorce: Singer to Make Public Plea to Wife at 2014 Billboard Awards with Song 'Get Her Back' (VIDEO)
The Billboard awards air this weekend and according to TMZ singer Robin Thicke will open up the awards show and use the occasion to sing a song that seems to be about his estranged wife.
Since the separation of Thicke and his wife and partner of 20 years Paula Patton, it has been extensively reported the singer was against the decision and tried his best to persuade the actress to change her mind.
TMZ reported that Thicke "wrote a new song" and plans on singing it at the awards show. The lyrics read, "I should've kissed you longer / I should've held you stronger." The publication allegedly obtained a copy of the lyrics, and it is called "Get Her Back."
"All I wanna do is make it right," reads more of the lyrics. "I gotta get her, go get her back / I gotta treat her right / I gotta cherish her for life." The most disheartening lyric perhaps is the statement in the lyric that proclaims, "And I'll wait for forever for you."
As of now Thicke's other public pleas to his wife have not been addressed by the actress. In a recent concert in Madison Square Garden the charming crooner spoke to his crowd about forgiving family members no matter what the cause.
Thicke said, "We gotta learn to forgive each other, learn to love each other ... no matter who it is in your family or relationship ... 'cause you're always gonna need your friends and family." See video below.
Thicke and Patton dated throughout high school and decided to get married in 2005. They have a three-year-old son together named Julian Fuego Thicke. Unfortunately Hollywood is known for its stigma of short lived marriages. Keep the family and their young child together in prayer as they go through this unfortunate time.
The Billboard Awards air Sunday night at 8:00 PM on ABC.
