‘Richie Rich’ TV Series News: Live-Action Re-make Set to Air on Netflix in 2015

New reports have emerged claiming that the fictional character from Harvey Comics, Richie Rich, will return in a live-action series via Netflix in 2015. The new TV series has not yet been given a title, but is already set to be produced by Awesomeness TV.

The series is brought to the small screen by executive producers Trim Pollock and Brian Robbins, who previously worked on the Disney sitcom 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody'.

The half-hour comedy series will have a total of 21 episodes featuring the richest kid in the world who will be played by 'Dark Skies' actor Jake Brennan.

The new 'Richie Rich' series will be made available through Netflix in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Stepping back, the original 'Richie Rich' first debuted in Harvey Comics in 1953 and was made into a movie in the early 1980s.

Another film was made in 1994 that starred 'Home Alone' actor Macaulay Caulkin starred as Richie.

While the Caulkin version of 'Richie Rich' followed a story where Rich got his riches from his billionaire father, this time, the Brenann adaptation of the series will have the kid producing his own fortune.

According to the official synopsis, Richie Richie is an only child of fantastically wealthy parents who were incidentally always away from home dubbing him as a "poor little rich boy." Richie moves in a very high-end mansion and lives "the best life ever," Richie then uses his trillions of dollars to sell and invent cool green technology and spends his time with friends and their awesome adventures, which will include "exploring Antarctica, making a movie with his friends and meeting famous celebrities."

Meanwhile, Netflix has another series joining its lineup, 'The Magic School Bus' reboot, as the trend of remaking popular series from the past is increasing.

Beyond all that, Cinema Blend reports that Netflix also plans to make TV adaptations of 'Minority Report', 'Big', and the suspense film 'Shutter Island'.
