'Resident Evil' HD on PS4, Xbox One Release Date: Capcom Confirms Classic Title High-Definition 1080p Remake Launch in 2015

Capcom Production Studio 4 has confirmed that it has developed a HD version remake of the iconic video game 'Resident Evil', which is set for release in early 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the title will also release on older consoles, PS3, Xbox 360, as well as the PC.

The new title will only be available via digital download and it is based on the 2002 GameCube remake version.

The HD version will incorporate complete 1080p visuals possible with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. The older consoles will get 720p. It will feature support for 5.1 surround sound audio. Players would now be able to opt between playing in the original 4:1 ratio or changing over to the new 16:9 style. In addition, they can also choose from a classic control scheme, or a newer set based off contemporary games.

'Resident Evil' was first released in 1996 on PlayStation, next it was remade on GameCube in 2002. A Wii port was also developed by Happy Happening and Capcom.

The remakes, developed by Capcom took the iconic PlayStation title and updated it with a complete visual revamp, in addition to latest mechanics and systems from later entries in the series. It has also been improved with puzzle design tweaks.

Later, in October 2013, a former costume designer for motion capture and animation studio House of Moves hinted that in any case, 'Resident Evil 7' has been in production since November 2012.

The last entry in the mainline series, 'Resident Evil 6' was released in October 2012, suggesting that, if the information is true, Capcom started production on a sequel almost immediately after its release, if not earlier.

The 'Resident Evil' series is one of the biggest and well-known franchises in gaming today; it has sold more than 61 million units to date across 92 different games.
