Real Housewives of Atlanta News: Apollo Nida Ordered to Pay $2M in Fraud Case, Stolen Checks & Identity Theft
Reality star, Apollo Nida was charged with bank fraud and identity theft and was ordered to pay $2 million in restitution.
On July 8, Nida, husband of 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Phaedra Parks, was sentenced to eight years in prison due to multiple counts of fraud and money laundering. The star is facing up to 30 years in jail.
On top of that, Nida was also ordered by a judge to pay nearly $2 million in restitution payments "due and payable immediately" to his victims, the court papers stated, according to The Wrap.
Nida, reportedly has to pay a total of $1.95 million; JP Morgan Chase will get $828,300; $127,011 will go to the IRS; $24,985 for Delta Airlines; $15,778 for the State of California; $45,525 for the State of Connecticut and $39, 275 for the State of Texas, among others.
The payment was originally scheduled on Thursday, but has been cancelled and the new date is yet to be announced.
Sally Quillian Yates, a United States attorney stated that Nida and his associates had begun buying stolen checks from other criminals starting August 2009, according to The Wrap.
According to Yates, Nida and others stole checks from Delta Airlines' pension fund, has stolen identities of over 50 people and used it to file fraudulent tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service, make fraudulent claims with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in several different States.
Meanwhile, the couple's show 'Real Housewives of Atlanta', is continuously filming the show's seventh season.
The series airs Tuesday 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
