‘Ray Donovan’ Season 3 Release Date Rumors: Summer 2015 Premiere, Filming Begins Early 2015 in California

Fans of Showtime's 'Ray Donovan' will be happy to know that the show has been renewed for a third season, and is scheduled to return to the air in July 2015.

On a side note, Showtime has ordered 12 episodes of 'Ray Donovan' and at the same time renewed another network series, 'Masters of Sex'.

According to network president David Nevins, the "acclaimed shows are filled with complex and interesting characters and settings that will no doubt give audiences compelling television to invest in for seasons to come."

Reports claim that 'Ray Donovan' will begin filming new Season 3 episode early next year. Also, rumor has it that filming will take place in Calabasas City, California.

Taking into account the first two season of 'Ray Donovan', Season 1 premiered June 30, 2013 and Season 2 kicked off on July 13, 2014.

Even though Showtime has not confirmed any of the locations and release dates at the moment, there's a good chance Season 3 will also be released sometime during the summer.

'Ray Donovan' stars Liev Schrieber playing the lead role of Raymond 'Ray' Donovan, a "fixer" for the law firm Goldman & Drexler based in Los Angeles, California. His clients include high-profile business owners, celebrities, and professional athletes.

Jon Voight is part of the ensemble, taking on the role of Ray's father, Mickey, who was released from prison and is being hunted down by the FBI.

He brings trouble to Ray and his associates in the show as the government agency is also targeting the law firm.

The other original cast members who have signed on for the new season include the actors that play the entire Donovan family, with Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok playing Ray's wife, older brother, and younger alcoholic brother, respectively.

'Ray Donovan' was created by Ann Biderman, who was also a producer on the show.

Nevins revealed, however, that Biderman will not be returning as a producer for season three, and instead has become a consultant for the show.

'Ray Donovan' airs every Sunday at 9 pm on Showtime.
