Reports so far are not clear as to whether the new video games coming to Redbox are for the online service or the machine physical copy service. Some commenters on various sites claim to have already been purchasing rentals for the PS4 for the last couple of months. In these instances it may just be a localized thing depending on location.

Redbox is still operating as a rental service but strictly through their vending machine type operations and online as their main competition is places such as Netflix and Hulu. Of course, Redbox gets movies a little quicker than Netflix. The rarity of movie rental stores leaves companies such as Redbox as a novelty type service that still has some relevance on a smaller scale.
