PS4 vs. Xbox One Sales, Comparison: Different Features Make All the Difference?

As Sony and Microsoft compete for which next-gen console is better, one of the two corporations has pulled into the lead in terms of sales.

According to a report from USA Today, Sony's PS4 has was able to sell 3.5 million PlayStation 4 systems in the second quarter of last year, which beat Microsoft's Xbox One by a substantial margin.

After news of Sony's success broke, many were left wondering how the two systems could be so similar, yet so different at the same time. In terms of specs and hardware, both consoles can basically run games and programs at the same speeds and in the same caliber. The systems themselves may not differ much, but the features that are available on them certainly do.

One difference, that may seem minor at first, but is popular nonetheless, is the ability to take screenshots in the middle of a game. Players like to share their gaming experience with their friends and even their acquaintances over social media. This is only possible via the PS4, as the Xbox One has no screenshot feature as of yet. However, due to popular demand, Microsoft says they're working on a way Xbox players can do this on their consoles too.

Another difference, is the voice command feature associated with Microsoft's flagship console. This feature is evidently not a part of the PS4 experience, and there has been no word about it from Sony. Aside from that, Microsoft lets gamers use AA batteries in their controllers, while Sony is strict with its USB charging only.

With new updates and features set to be consistently released on both next-gen consoles, only time will tell if the Xbox One will ever surpass the PS4 in sales.
