PS4 Software Update 2.01: Fixes 'Rest Mode' Bug, Gamers Report Console Properly Boots
Due to user complaints about having problems after updating to PlayStation 4 firmware 2.0 last week, Sony rolled out a new update, which will address the PS4 "rest mode" boot bug.
According to PlayStation Europe's Twitter post on November 6, the software update 2.01 for the PS4 has already launched, is downloadable, and "will address issues that some users complained about, when booting up their console from Rest Mode."
However, Sony worldwide studios president Shuhei Yoshida, said users must download and voluntarily update their system because it was not a "forced update."
The new update was in response to the System Update 2.0 rolled out by Sony last week, which garnered a lot of feedback from complaining users that they were having difficulty or were experiencing bugs that prevents their console from starting up after going into Rest Mode.
After getting reports of the "rest mode" bug, Sony was quick to respond and had initially released a statement on November 5, saying that they will be releasing a new update, which will fix the issues encountered by their users.
Last week's 2.0 update was a "big step" for Sony and for PlayStation 4, according to Venture Beat.
The update allowed users to use the SharePlay option on their console, which is a streaming game-sharing option that players can opt into.
In addition, the update also lets users play using their USB devices.
Meanwhile, following the most recent PS4 update, users are saying that after downloading the system update 2.01, their consoles now boots up properly after being in "rest mode."
However, it has yet to be confirmed whether the latest update will also address the problems brought up by game publisher 2K Games, stating that the PS4 firmware 2.0 is to be blamed for the delay of their alpha test for the game 'Evolve'.
