PS Vita Apps: Sony Handheld Gets Hulu Plus, Redbox Instant, Crunchyroll, and More
PS Vita is receiving six new apps and three of them are live as of today. Arriving to the PlayStation handheld is Hulu Plus, Redbox Instant, Gaiam TV, Crunchyroll, NHL GameCenter LIVE, and Qello Concerts.
Crunchyroll streams anime, GameCenter LIVE is a subscription based NHL app, and Quello streams live concerts and music documentaries. All three of those app are available today.
The other three will arrive later on in the spring. Gaiam TV focuses on fitness and yoga while HULU Plus plays network television. Redbox Instant by Verizon is offering a free month of movies for the newest subscribers.
According to Polygon, Vita already has Crackle, NBA Game Time, Netflix, YouTube, and Skype.
The Vita has been picking up steam lately, especially in Japan, where the handheld has been beating out the 3DS for the last few weeks. PS Vita's Soul Sacrifice Delta is the top selling game with 48,786 sold according to Wii U Daily.
PlayStation Plus is offering a two free games this month, Thomas Was Alone and Unit 13, for the Instant Games Collection. Thomas Was Alone is for the PS3 and PS Vita, and is primarily a puzzle platforming game using shapes. Unit 13 is a Vita exclusive in the vein of classic third person shooter SOCOM. They both appeared in the PlayStation Store last night.
Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD and Smart As for the PS Vita are also available for free.
