Premier League Transfer Rumors: Di Maria, Alvaro Gonzalez, Kevin Strootman, Philippe Mexes Set to Change Sides
With more than 10 days left before the EPL transfer window comes to a close this Summer, the transfer market is heating up in England. As top clubs are vying against one another to strengthen their respective squads, the demand for the likes of Di Maria, Alvaro Gonzalez, Kevin Strootman and Philippe Mexes are on the rise.
Argentinian international Angel Di Maria is all set to sign for Manchester United, which is reported to have prepared a £100 million package, including £50 million for transfer fees, for a five-year deal with the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.
Rumors about 26-year-old Di Maria leaving Real Madrid has gained ground following the Real boss Carlo Ancelotti saying that he is not sure if the Argentinian footballer has a future in his club, reports Daily Mail.
In fact, Manchester United has also shown renewed interest in Roma's 28-year-old Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, while Juventus says that they are confident that they will retain the 27-year-old Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal.
In addition to Di Maria and Kevin Strootman, the Old Trafford club is also keen to acquire the 32-year-old AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes, as a relatively inexpensive substitute for Roma's £24 million-rated 27-year-old centre-back Mehdi Benatia.
At the same time, United has joined Tottenham seeking the 28-year-old Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin, after Chelsea lost interest in the Colombian international.
The Daily Mirror reports that Southampton manager Ronald Koeman desires to sign in Lazio midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez as his eighth new recruit this Summer. The club is reportedly offering the 29-year-old Uruguay international £8 million.
Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has said that despite already spending £115 million to acquire five new players, he is still in the market for new signings. The club has already spent £75 million on 27-year-old Luis Suarez this Summer alone.
The Daily Mail also reports that Tottenham are willing to take note of offers for Lewis Holtby, who was signed by the club in January 2013 from Schalke for £1.5 million, as QPR and Crystal Palace are said to be keen to acquire this 23-year-old midfielder.
According to Sky Sports, Mic McCarthy, Ipswich Town boss, said that the 25-year-old West Ham midfielder Jack Collison is currently training at the club, but refused to comment whether or not the club has lined up a deal for the player.
