Pastor Jay Haizlap Gets a Tattoo on Preachers of L.A. New Episode "Staying True to You"
Preachers of L.A. aired its sixth episode last night titled "Staying True to You." If you're unfamiliar with the show, Preachers of L.A. is Oxygen's newest reality series that gives viewers a closer look inside the everyday lives of preachers outside of the church, showing that they still face the same trials and tribulations as everyday people, despite their career title.
Los Angeles pastors are Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Bishop Ron Gibson, Jay Haizlip, Wayne Chaney, and Deitrick star in the series.
In last night's episode a lot of non-godly behaviors are questioned. Bishop Ron Gibson preaches to a high-ranking General Board of pastors in hopes to join the board, but Gibson's flashy lifestyle doesn't send the right message. While in the barbershop Gibson chats with some of his male church leaders who suggest Gibson turn it down a notch before he gives his sermon.
Later on in the episode First Lady Myesha Chaney, First Lady Christy Haizlip and Loretta have lunch and get into a debate on whether or not tattoos are sinful. Pastor Jay Haizlap gets a tattoo while Pastor Wayne Chaney and Bishop Ron Gibson watch. Myeisha makes it clear that she is against tattoos and will have no parts in it, but later on that night her husband Wayne comes home and tell her that he is thinking about getting a tattoo after seeing Pastor Haizlip get one. Myeisha tries to shut the whole idea down and attempts to make him feel guilty by saying he's risking the salvation of his soul by desecrating his body. Haizlip counters her argument by saying, ". "But ... you wear make-up and you have your ears pierced?"
Bishop Clarence Mclendon's son Cameron has been put in charge of the opening worship music for an upcoming service. The position allows Cameron the chance to showcase his writing and singing skills during a performance in front of his father's congregation. However, Bishop Mclendon is nervous that Cameron might screw up and begins putting pressure on him.
