Pokemon X and Y News: Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire - Game Freak Dev Team Discuss

It has been more than half a year since Pokemon X & Y came out for the Nintendo 3DS system, and as it stands now, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will hit the shelves toward the end of 2014.

The two latest Pokemon games are the most anticipated among fans of the franchise, especially since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are enhanced remakes of the popular Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire installments, set in the Hoenn Region.

While waiting for the games to be released, Pokemon.com sat down with two high-ranking developers of the Game Freak team, director Junichi Masuda and Pokemon battle director Shigeki Morimoto, to discuss the public reception of Pokemon X & Y.

With Pokemon X & Y focusing more on online competition amongst players, the two game developers suggested training in the Battle Maison. However, playing against the computer won't prepare players for real-time competition against human opponents. Masuda and Morimoto shared thoughts about Japan having the best Pokemon trainers in the world.

The two also expressed their surprise when some players from around the world only took 72 hours to complete the game, because developing the titles took a full three years. Fortunately for those players, they have moved on to competing against other players online.

They discussed the factor of having to train Pokemon in a shorter amount of time as well. Over the years, the franchise has been trying to lessen the time that trainers will need to raise their Pokemon so people will have more time to compete against each other.

When told by Pokemon.com that Pokemon are easier to train in X & Y than in other titles, Masuda answered, "Yes, because people are busy these days. They have plenty of other things to play with, and not just video games."
