Pokemon Stadium Wii U Release Date: Unlikely to Come in Next Few Years

Pokemon is one of Nintendo's most popular franchises as it stretches internationally to millions of fans. With the release of Pokemon X & Y half a year ago and with the upcoming release of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire at the end of the year, Pokemon faces another surge of popularity in the franchise.

The only thing that's missing from the franchise is a title for the hand-held port. The Pokemon games mostly fall onto portable platforms like the 3DS, the Gameboys, and even on mobiles with emulators. There has not been a Pokemon game for the Wii U, and there most likely won't be for the next few years.

However, there is a video glimpse of a Pokemon game for the Wii U, and players are speculating it to be the Pokemon Stadium for the console. It's at the end of the video, where two Pokemon are clearly seen in a fighting stance, similar to the already released Pokemon Stadium games.

The video emerged last year and there have not been any announcements from Nintendo about it. The company's announcement of the Amiibo figures during last month's E3 however, has players expecting a Pokemon Stadium game in the next few years if not sooner.

The Amiibo figures were similar to Disney's Infinity and Skylanders figurines where people could battle each other using figurines of their favorite characters. The Amiibos were of Nintendo characters that are compatible with the Wii U consoles.

The Amiibo figures are already usable with the latest Super Smash Bros. 4 and it will be likely that a Pokemon game of the same premise will be next.
