Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Reviews: Video Game Critics Rate New Nintendo Titles
Video game developer Game Freak is set to release the latest additions to the age old Pokemon franchise in the form of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the Nintendo 3DS.
The new games are set to release on November 21 in the United States, Japan, and Australia. However, the release for the games in Europe is set for November 28.
Stepping into reviews for the game, most of the top critics on the web gave the titles some relatively high marks.
Beginning with IGN, they scored the games with a 7.8 out of 10. In their review they stated, "Pokémon Alpha Sapphire introduces needed updates and a gorgeous new view of Hoenn, but a clearer view reveals its dated holdovers."
GameSpot went ahead and also gave the titles a solid score of 8 out of 10. They said, "It's a seemingly simple and cute journey, but with the underlying potential for strategy in combat, and a massive number of adorable Pokemon to catch, you can't help getting hooked by Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire."
Last but not least, GamesRadar, gave Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire a 4 out of 5. Apparently, those reviewers considered the original GBA games as a point of reference.
GamesRadar wrote, "Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remain faithful to what made the GBA originals great. The new features are strong, but some of the progress made by Pokemon X&Y has also been undone."
However, in some of the other reviews, the top critics mentioned the success of Pokemon X & Y which in turn sparked some debate by fans of the franchise.
While gamers have yet to avail or try the new Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games, some of them felt that if they're anything like X & Y, the new games could be somewhat lack luster.
One user on Reddit said, "People call XY great ? Around the people I've been everyone agrees it was very solid as a 3ds and 3d techdemo, but boring and bland as a Pokémon game. There was just so little things to do in the overworld and story, rivals and enemies were lackluster, sometimes even a joke."
As it stands, Pokemon franchise gamers will have to wait until they can try the games for themselves to really see if Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are great additions to the series or not.
