PlayStation Network Down For Maintenance News: Post Cyber-Attack Revamp
Sony's PlayStation Online Network had an outage over the weekend, and just shut down for maintenance yesterday.
They posted on their forum saying: "We wanted to take a moment to inform you of a network maintenance, currently scheduled for Thursday, August 28th, Monday, August 25th, from 9:40 AM to 4:50 PM Pacific Time (12:40 PM to 7:50 PM Eastern Time). We expect this maintenance to last approximately 7 hours. During this time we will deploy a series of back-end improvements to the network."
They also indicated that users who have been having problems since August 23 will receive a maintenance notification, "We thank you for your patience and support and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
They started at 9:40 a.m. and worked with their servers until 4:50 p.m. yesterday.
However, while they are restructuring their systems, users can still play online games or even watch Netflix as long as they were signed into the network from the 23rd of August.
Yesterday's maintenance was supposed to take place last Monday, but it was postponed after an unexpected cyber-attack on PSN last Sunday. It was reported that Lizard, a hacker group, was the one who took credit for the attack. The cyber-attack has affected Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network and other online game servers.
