Playstation 4, Xbox One Pre Orders Shatter Records on Amazon / 2,500 Pre-Sales a Minute During E3 2013
After a highly anticipated reveal at E3 2013 this year, demand for Sony's Playstation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One are higher than ever. In fact demand for the new consoles is so high, it's shattering pre-sale records like never before.
Amazon announced Friday, both the Xbox One and PS4 averaged over 2,500 pre-sale orders a minute, breaking previous records for both console companies. The pre-sale orders were at their highest during E3 announcements last week.
Not only did these pre-sale numbers break records held during last year's E3 conference but also last year's Black Friday sales. As we all know, Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving is the most popular day for holiday shopping throughout the year.
Beating last year's record shouldn't come as too big of a shock. 2013 features the release of brand new consoles like the Xbox One and Playstation 4. A new major console hasn't been released since 2006.
According to WedbushSecurities analyst Michael Pachter, "It's idiotic to try and compare preorders now" to when the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 were released in 2006 because "we're still six months out" from when the PS4 and Xbox One will actually be released.
"The numbers are probably 1000 ordered 8 years ago and 40,000 ordered now," Pachter added.
Reports indicate that retail video game stores like GameStop are already maxed out on pre-order units.
It looks like Sony and Microsoft are poised to have an excellent holiday 2013. Have you already pre-ordered your Xbox One or Playstation 4?
