PlayStation 4 Release Date for Japan Revealed as February 22 in New Trailer (VIDEO)
PlayStation 4 is finally making its way to Japan according to the country's first released Sony console commercial.
The commercial, which shows exuberant gamers all over the world getting their hands on the fastest selling console of all time, flashes "2.22" at the end of it, signaling a February 22 release.
Oddly enough, Sony is a Japanese company, and generally launched all of their consoles before they came west. However, with the way the gaming industry is at this time, the biggest market for gamers is in the U.S. Sony was also trying to beat the punch of American company Microsoft putting out their console the Xbox One.
Despite launching only in America initially, the console managed to move over a million units on its launch day. Sony needed all of the extra consoles they could get their hands on it, and it still was not enough to meet the demand for the PS4. The timing now seems right for Sony to focus all of their attention on a successful launch in Japan.
According to IGN, despite the presence of the Wii U and Xbox One in Japan already, the PS4 is expected to reign king of the next-gen.
The PS4 launched in the U.S. on November 15 2013.
