The Dodgers are sending a flailing Clayton Kershaw to the mound Saturday agains the NL Central surging Pittsburgh Pirates. Kershaw (5-4, 1.88 ERA) ended the month of May great, limiting the offense heavy Milwaukee Brewers to three hits in a 3-1 victory, May 20. Since the three-hit performance Kershaw has been 0-2 with a 3.33 ERA.

Kershaw hasn't gone winless for this long since the second half of his 2009 season. It's crazy how pitchers in the MLB can go from Cy Young winners to streaking stinkers.

It's not all Kershaw's fault. In Monday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Clayton held the NL West tream to one run and six hits over seven innings. Unfortunately, Dodgers closer Brandon League blew the save by giving up 4 runs in the ningth inning.

"It was a battle out there," Kershaw said. "I didn't have great fastball command. I was 1-0, 2-0 basically the whole night....I'm glad I made it through seven."

The Pittsburgh Pirates (40-27) are bringing up minor league pitcher Brandon Cumpton for his first MLB appearance. Cumpton has big shoes to fill with Pirates ace A.J. Burnett on the DL. Cumtpn was 4-4 with a 3.31 ERA in 11 starts in the minors (1 with Double-A Altoona, 10 games with Triple-A Indianapolis).

Can Cumpton find an answer for the Dodgers new secret weapon Yasiel Puig. Side not, Puig has hit four homeruns and 10 RBIs in 11 games. Puig is batting close to .500!
