'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Delay News: Production Stalled Until Johnny Depp’s Injury is Healed

Perhaps the set of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is one of the most unlucky places to work. Following a series of delays, the crew of the film has now announced that production is suspended until Johnny Depp recovers from a hand injury he sustained.

IB Times reports the 51-year-old actor hurt his hand at the early in March while filming the fifth installment in the hit pirate franchise in Australia. While Depp was not shooting when he got hurt, production was stopped due to what was presumed to be a minimal delay, while the actor flew from the Gold Coast set back to the U.S. for surgery.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the Jack Sparrow actor has come to know that he requires a pin inserted in his finger to facilitate his proper recovery, which actually prolonged the delay from two weeks to four weeks.

Meanwhile, E! Online reports that about 200 crew members were recently told that they will not be working for more or less the next two weeks, subject to when Depp's hand recovers and he can return to the set. It seems that, the filmmakers have filmed all that they can without Depp, and now they have reached a point where they genuinely need the film's star to be on the sets to move forward.

In fact, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' starring Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham, Javier Bardem, Golshifteh Farahani, Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites, has really had a difficult time filming during the past few months.

Trouble began when it suffered through Tropical cyclone Nathan, which shut down production provisionally soon after it began in February. In the recent past, a security guard was attacked when a man donning the dress of a pirate sneaked onto the set brandishing a knife.

All the set backs and production being held up for an indefinite period notwithstanding, the studio has not altered the release date of the film. It is scheduled for July 7, 2017 release. As of now, there are just 14 more weeks of shooting scheduled for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.'
