Phillies, Red Sox ONLINE LIVE STREAM: Watch Game 2 of Interleague Series HERE / Phillies Kyle Kendrick VS Red Sox John Lackey
Interleague play continues with another cross league series between the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. The hitting heavy Red Sox couldn't find a way to score more than one run in Tuesday's loss to Phillies pitchers Cliff Lee, and former Red Sox relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon.
"That's the one way to attack our approach is to pitch to quality locations early and often, and (Lee) is a guy that can do that," according to Red Sox manager John Farrell. "I think you saw us respond by trying to go earlier in the count with some swings."
The league leading Red Sox in runs scored only managed two hits against the Phillies pitchers.
The Phillies may not have the same luck starting Kyle Kendrick (4-3, 3.29) against the Red Sox. In their last 2 meetings Kendrick might as well have been batting practice, giving up 11 runs in under 8 innings. Scheduled to pitch tonight for the Red Sox is John Lackey (3-4, 2.72 ERA) who's been on fire his last two games. Lackey helped lead the Red Sox past the surging Cleveland Indians in an 8-1 win, with 8 strikeouts.
Lackey will have his work cut out for him pitching against Michael Young and NL Player of the Week, Dominic Brown, who both hit homeruns in Tuesday's 3-1 Phillies win.
TV Game Time: 7:05 PM ET on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia / NESN (Boston).
