Cole Hamels gets the start for the Phillies going against Mets pitchers Jeremy Hefner. Hamels has been pitching a little better as of late, post a 2.70 ERA over his last three starts. However, his record is 2-10 this year and has proven to be a real disappointment, especially early in the season. In Hamel's defense, he has been a victim of lack of run support from the Phillies offense. With Utley hurting and Roy Halladay being shut down, the Phillies season quickly turned upside down.

The Mets are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Hefner has had a little bit better luck. He hasn't lost in 2 of his last appearances. Also 2-10, Hefner isn't to blame for his 10 straight losing decisions to open up the season. The Mets rotation, however, is evolving. When you throw in Zack Wheeler, who just came up to MLB this past week, and of course Matt Harvey, Hefner fits in to what could be a pretty good staff down the road.

As of now, the Mets are still 14 games below .500 and well behind NL East leading Atlanta Braves. Like last season, the Mets are looking at another playoff-less year.

The Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Mets tonight at 7:05pm ET on PHL 17.
