Philip Seymour Hoffman Hunger Games Character to Be Completed by CGI Following Death; 'Mockingjay' Part 1 and 2 Movie Release Dates Delayed?
Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in the Hunger Games will be completed using CGI, according to reports out this week.
The Hollywood actor was set to play a pivotal role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 as Hunger Games organizer Plutarch Heavensbee. He had completed filming Part 1 of the movie franchise finale, and had completed most of his work on Part 2, however, according to reports he still had about a week of filming remaining.
Those behind the movie have been left devastated by Hoffman's sudden death last week, after the actor was found in his New York City apartment, dead of an apparent heroin drug overdose.
Many fans had questioned whether the actor's sudden death would result in the movies having to be pushed back, however, those behind the films are claiming that the movies will maintain their scheduled release dates, and that Hoffman's final scenes will be recreated using CGI.
Lionsgate has confirmed that Hoffman's death, although tragic, would not have any impact on the Hunger Games finale release dates.
Rob Legato, an effects supervisor has told The Hollywood Reporter, "These days the technology of using someone's likeness is a whole lot easier to do."
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is scheduled to be released November 21, 2014, with Part 2 set for a release date of November 20, 2015.
Hoffman was found unconscious in his Manhattan apartment at the weekend allegedly with a needle in his arm and an extensive amount of drugs in the residence. However, an autopsy has come back inconclusive regarding the actor's cause of death. But four suspected drug dealers have been held over the death, according to reports.
