Boston Bruins at Pittsburg Penguins, Game 1 Eastern Conference Finals 2013

The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Boston Bruins for Game 1 of the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals Saturday night. These two teams have history in the playoffs. History that Boston will hope doesn't repeat [1991, 1992, 2013 Penguins beat the Bruins to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals].

Both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins are coming off a 5 game series, but have had several days for physical and mental rest.

The Boston Bruins may not have the marquee names like Crosby and Malkin on their team, but they do have players that work well together and have given them an opportunity to be a championship team.

Bruins game planning could feature Patrice Bergeron (3 goals, 4 assists, +1 rating this postseason) and his line matching up against Sidney Crosby and his line. When asked about taking on the Penguins golden boy, Bergeron said he was excited to take on his Team Canada teammate.

"I expect to play against him, most often than not. I'll try to read off what he's doing on the ice, and try to defend it, but also try to counter. It's always a good challenge," Bergeron told the media after practice."

The Penguins are a team that's scored 4 or more goals in 9 of 11 playoff games. They beat Ottawa, a very good defensive team, in 5 games, outscoring the Senators 22-11. The main concern for the Penguins is that the break doesn't dull the team. They need to find a way to pick right where they left off. If the Penguins continue to fire on all cylinders, it should be a quick series against the Boston Bruins.
