'Pawn Stars' Features Roger Daltrey of 'The Who' and Lynyrd Skynyrd on The History Channel (VIDEO)
Last night was a big night for the hit TV show "Pawn Stars" on The History Channel.
Not only did they change nights but they got a new theme song recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd. The History Channel promoted its recent move of "Pawn Stars" to a prime time 9 p.m. Thursday evening time slot by staging a "Party Like the Pawn Stars" event in Las Vegas at the shop. Lynyrd Skynyrd actually performed at event the new theme song of "Pawn Stars", "Winning Isn't Everything" for the very first time.
Roger Daltrey, of the rock band, The Who, stopped by, it was great. Seeing Roger Daltrey and Rick performing together was classic.
"Pawn Stars" became History's highest-rated series in 2011 with 7 million viewers watching an original episode broadcast on January 24, 2011. That, at the time, made it the most-watched telecast on The History Channel ever, according to the network and Nielsen Media Research.
Since then, The History Channel has boomed with several other successful series including two this year that blew the lid off of the ratings with "The Bible" series and "Vikings", which were both original series to the network.
Basic cable TV ratings have been picking up over the last several years with more interesting programming and network TV losing its viewers to the calculated reality shows that seem the same every year.
In 2009, before "Pawn Stars" aired, the "Gold & Silver Pawn Shop" of Las Vegas averaged $4 million a year in revenue. Since "Pawn Stars" has been on the air the shop's revenue is five times higher, or about $20 million a year.
