Paul Walker Dead: "Fast and Furious" Actor Dies in Car Crash in Southern California.

Fast and Furious star Paul Walker died in a car crash Saturday in Southern California. Confirming his death via the actor's Facebook and Twitter accounts was the actor's publicist Ame van Iden.

Riding passenger with a friend, the accident occurred at 3:30 central time in Valencia, California. Walker was set to attend a benefit for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan as part of his charity Reach Out Worldwide, formed three years ago, to provide first aid for such events.

Though the L.A. coroner's office has yet to confirm the identities of either passenger, Walker's representatives stated:

"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide," the statement read. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news."

Universal Pictures, the studio behind the Fast and Furious franchise and Walker's most recognizable role also released a statement:

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."
