BREAKING NEWS: Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett traded to Brooklyn Nets; Peirce's heartfelt reaction through VIDEO TRIBUTE

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were announced as the newest members to the Brooklyn Nets during a press conference at noon. this is the first time that Pierce, who played for the Celtics since 1998, will play for another team. Pierce, the all-time second-leading scorer of the Celtics, faces the stark change, that will most likely lead to a retirement in the next few years, with grace. He published a montage of favorite momeries in Boston through his instagram, and thanked Celtics fans for their ongoing support.

About the change, Pierce said, "We're all about winning championships, and Brooklyn gives us the best opportunity to do that." He also noted a few days before the announcement, "I plan on playing 10 more years".

The trade of both Pierce and Garnett will likely give the team an added brotherhood and comradery, as the two have been playing together and friends for years.

In his ode to Boston on Instagram, Pierce said, "Boston, you've been my home for the last 15 years. Together, we've been through it all. I could not be more grateful for all of your support and Boston will forever be a part of who I am. He added a #thankyouboston after each image.

"You see, much like most of us, success didn't come easy for Pierce. Instead he earned it. He earned it through his immense talents, sure. But he also earned it through the time he put in, through the loyalty he showed to the city of Boston, through the patience he exhibited when things were at their worst."
