Patriots Change Their NFL Team Logo, Another Step for the New England NFL Team to Move into a New Chapter Beyond Hernandez [PICTURE]
Patriots Change Their NFL Team Logo
The New England Patriots have been on a mission this last week to move past the area of Aaron Hernandez since he was arrested. They clearly want to move beyond the incident and having been giving their fans multiple signs of that this week.
First, the Patriots cut Aaron Hernandez less then 2 hours after he had been arrested. Most teams would have let the legal process run it's course, especially on such a valuable player, but they wanted to show they had no room for these kind of charges in their organization. And this was going to happen even when they thought only obstruction of justice charges we going to be charged on Hernandez in connection with the death of 27-year-old Lloyd.
In an interesting twist, new Patriot Tim Tebow was a teammate of Hernandez at Florida and more stories are coming out now of Tebow trying to encourage Hernandez to move beyond his old lifestyle. Unfortunately that did not appear to happen for Hernandez.
Next, the Patriots decided to allow fans to bring back their Hernandez jerseys to the team shop and trade them in at no cost for a different Patriots jersey (of the same cost).
Now, today the Patriots organization has unveiled a new logo for the team. Not that all of this has to do specifically with his arrest for sure, they could have had this change in mind for awhile, but it well could.
The new logo transitions from the old cursive Patriots logo with the "flying elvis" head on the left side of the logo, to now a block lettered logo with the logo head directly in the center of the logo.
What do you think of the new logo? Do you like the old or new one better?
Do you think they changed it as another way to turn the page on the last week or do you think they were planning on doing this all along?
