Pat Robertson Thinks Christians Shouldn't Share Their Beliefs on Social Media; 'Keep Your Stuff to Yourself' (VIDEO)
From the time of the early church until now things have dramatically changed when it comes to how people communicate and spread the gospel. Social Media is now being used by many believers to spread the Gospel, however one popular televangelist has advised people not to.
Christian mega pastors and believers of all titles often use social media to share a scripture or thoughts about Christ. From Joyce Meyer to Billy Graham to whoever your favorite Christian singers and actors are, they are constantly encouraging believers via Twitter or Facebook posts.
This Thursday, televangelist Pat Robertson recommended a viewer not follow that trend of interaction.
"Whenever I post something on social media about my faith, many atheists comment that what I believe is wrong and try to argue about God's existence," the viewer named Christine explained. "Should I argue back and try to prove His existence or should I just ignore it?"
"You don't have to do that," Robertson replied. "The Bible also says you don't have to cast your pearls before swine because they will turn and rend you."
Robertson continued, "You talk about the social media, you've got everybody known to man out there. But why would you put your pearls out, and why would you argue with those people? I mean, keep your stuff to yourself."
Many ministries disagree with Robertson and provide tools on how to effectively use social media to bring people to church. Vibrantfaith.org even offers social media congregational training.
An article on wineskins.org believes, "Social media is what we make of it." They state, "Like any other form of communication we can use it and leverage it for great good for the kingdom of God or we can use it for great harm. We can access it to further our message and mission or we can use it in such a way that makes or at least reflects a faith that is weak, struggling or completely absent."
Do you believe social media is a tool Christians should use to spread the gospel or is it non-effective because it can cause vicious debates between believers and non-believers?
