Pat Robertson tells Creationist Ken Ham The Earth being 6,000 Years Old is 'Nonsense' (Video)
Televangelist Pat Robertson attacked Ken Hams position in one of the dominant arguments of the Evolution vs Creation Debate on Tuesday, by saying it's "nonsense" to say the world is only six thousand years old.
On "The 700 Club" Wednesday night Robertson criticized Prominent Creation apologist and bestselling Christian writer Ham's view that the Earth is only 6,000 years old and implored his viewers not to go along with that theory.
Robertson reasoned that there is too much scientific evidence in the world to claim the world is only thousands and not billions, of years old. Robertson said, "To say that it all came about in 6000 years is just nonsense, and I think it's time we come off of that stuff and say this is impossible."
"Let's face it, there was a bishop [James Ussher] ... who added up the dates listed in Genesis and he came up with the world had been around for 6,000 years," he continued. "There ain't no way that's possible ... To say that it all came about in 6,000 years is just nonsense and I think it's time we come off of that stuff and say this isn't possible."
"We've got to be realistic that the dating of Bishop Ussher just doesn't comport with anything that's found in science," Robertson sustained, "and you can't just totally deny the geological formations that are out there."
"Let's be real," he pleaded, "let's not make a joke of ourselves."
Robertson made it a point to say that he still doesn't believe in "so-called evolution," but it doesn't affect his faith to have "progressive evolution" under the control of God.
The debate was viewed by an audience of approximately 800 people at the Legacy Hall lecture arena at the Creation Museum, which is funded by Answers in Genesis.
