'Parks and Recreation' Season 6 Cast Rumors Update: Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones to Part Ways With the Show
While other NBC sitcoms have failed to capture "Must See TV" success in the past few years, but "Parks and Recreation" has remained as one of the network's most popular shows. Not only has the sitcom has continued to provide the network with very good ratings, but it has also amassed its share of critical acclaim along the way, because of its funny performances from its all-star cast.
It is very unlikely to see a comedy series to remain funny and relevant for five seasons. In addition, it is even rarer to keep that ensemble cast together for the entire series run of a TV show. Now "Parks and Recreation" will be losing two of its major cast members soon.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the series's producers have confirmed that Rob Lowe (who plays Chris Traeger) and Rashida Jones (who plays
Leslie Knope's best friend Ann Perkins) will both leave the series together in Season 6 Episode 13. Showrunner Mike Schur is right now shooting the show's season 6 premiere in London and could not reveal additional information about the actors' departures.
Nevertheless, considering season 5 ended with Chris and Ann planning to start a family together after getting back together from a breakup in season 3, it appears the series will continue with that story-line and potentially have both characters have happily-ever-after ending in Season 6 Episode 13.
While fans will be heartbroken to see Chris and Ann leave, but their departures might give other characters like Andy (Chris Pratt), April (Aubrey Plaza) and Tom (Aziz Ansari) to have more time in the spotlight.
Not to mention, Amy Poehler will reprise her lead role as Leslie Knope. As long as she remains in the city of Pawnee as its lone councilwoman, the series will most likely remain successful.
