Paris Jackson Recovery: Denied By Utah Residential Program, Diamond Ranch Academy / Facility Has History of Violating Patients Rights?

Paris Jackson is recovering from an suicide attempt June 5. Earlier reports indicated Paris would be sent to a residential program in Utah called the Diamond Ranch Academy.

The Utah facility was quickly off the table as an option for Paris. The family originally claimed the distance from family members as the reasoning behind not choosing Diamond Ranch.

According to a report from Mstarz, Paris Jackson was rejected by the Utah-based residential program.

"...the facility was concerned that Paris's presence would attract paparazzi to the facility, potentially upsetting the girl further and perhaps violating the privacy of other patients by taking photos." [Mstarz]

If Paris had been accepted, would it have been the best option for her recovery?

Former students at the Diamond Ranch Academy have had some unsettling accounts of what really goes on at the facility.

One patient had this to say about their rights being violated:

"After a few months I was able to mail my parents, but mail was closely monitored and read, and they ultimately decided if it was sent or not. If you did anything to expose the ranch for what it really was, you were instantly punished and knocked back down on the level system, promising you an even longer and harder stay at the program. Same with phone calls. They were always monitored and you would be instantly cut off if you said anything that could be deemed as 'manipulative.'" [CAFETY]

Confrontational counseling probably wouldn't have been the best for Paris's recovery. Maybe something more subdued, like one-on-one therapy would benefit the troubled 15-year old.
