'Pacific Rim 2' Release Date, Spoilers: Director Guillermo del Toro Guarantees Box Office Success
Film maker Guillermo del Toro has recently announced that Pacific Rim will have a sequel which is scheduled for a April 7, 2017 release. Apparently, the film's executives have started working on the project over a year and a half ago, and it is expected that Pacific Rim 2 will exceed the success of the previous installment.
As the year 2017 is still a long ways away, del Toro has already started to give away details about the film, "Screenwriter Zak Penn and I really went in we started with screenwriter Travis Beacham about a year and a half ago, kicking ideas back and forth. And, admittedly, I said to Zak, let's keep kicking ideas till we find one that really, really turns the first movie on its ear, so to speak," he told The Wall Street Journal during an exclusive phone interview.
Being that the first movie was as mind-blowing as it was, the filmmaker assured fans that they've yet to see how incredible the series could be, "It was hard to create a world that did not come from a comic book that had its own mythology, so we had to sacrifice many aspects to be able to cram everything in the first movie. Namely, for example 'the Drift', which was an interesting concept." del Toro explained to The Wall Street Journal.
The prosperous director, producer, and writer has been currently busy with his new horror series called The Strain as well as his upcoming horror film called Crimson Peak. Apparently Guillermo del Toro still has a lot of creative energy left to start working on Pacific Rim 2.
Although del Toro did not disclose too much about the extremely anticipated sequel, he had this to say, "At the end of the second movie, people will find out that the two movies stand on their own. They're very different from each other, although hopefully bringing the same joyful giant spectacle. But the tenor of the two movies will be quite different." he concluded.
