Ouija Board Reportedly Causes the Possession of Three Americans; Victims Taken to Hospital After Priest Refuses Exorcism (VIDEO)

Three young Americans were taken to the hospital after playing with a Ouija board, which reportedly left them "possessed" with evil spirits. Later, a Catholic Priest refused to perform an exorcism on the three afflicted youths.

22 year-old Alexandra Huerta, was playing with the Ouija board along with her brother Sergio, 23, and their 18-year-old cousin Fernando Cuevas, at a house in the village of San Juan Tiacotenco in south-west Mexico.

The DailyMail reported that minutes into the game the young girl began "growling" and convulsing in a "trance-like" state.

Huerta's parents first called a local Catholic priest to perform an exorcism on the three, but because they were not regular churchgoers, he refused and had the parents call the paramedics. The paramedics reportedly restrained the girl to prevent her from hurting herself, and then treated them all with painkillers, anti-stress medication, and eye drops, which seemingly worked.

The director of public safety in the nearby town of Tepoztlan, Victor Demesa, told the DailyMail, "The medical rescue of these three young people was very complicated."

He went on to say, "They had involuntary movements and it was difficult to transfer them to the nearest hospital because they were so erratic. It appeared as if they were in a trance-like state, apparently after playing with the Ouija board."

"They spoke of feeling numbness, double vision, blindness, deafness, hallucinations, muscle spasm and difficulty swallowing," he added.

Demesa said he could not comment on whether the three were really possessed, or had simply convinced themselves that they were. He maintained that was not for a doctor to determine.

Although a board game may seem innocent, a recent poll shows that a little over half of people believe that supernatural things can take place in modern times. Market researchers, One poll asked 2,000 adults a series of questions about their beliefs and weighted the results to make them reflect the population as a whole. This revealed that 55 percent of people put their faith in the supernatural and superstition.

Mainstream religions and some occultists have associated use of a Ouija board with the concept of demonic possession, and have cautioned their followers not to use one. GhostResearch.org along with countless articles on the web, provides a number of testimonials on supernatural experiences occurring while handling a Ouija board.

The Ouija board is commonly sold at toy stores, occult supply stores, and some bookstores. Ouija is a combination of two words: "oui" and "ja" which mean, "yes" in French and German. The board itself perhaps is not dangerous, but the form of communication that people attempt to make through it has proven to be somewhat inflicting.

The board is a piece of compressed wood, which has letters from A to Z, numbers from 0 to 9 and a Sun and Moon symbol. A movable indicator is used to allegedly answer questions that its players ask. In popular culture these boards are considered to be a "spiritual gateway" used to contact the dead.
