Oscar Pistorius Trial 2014 Latest News: Twitter Posts, Cries for Help or Attention?
Oscar Pistorius has broken silence as he has recently posted to Twitter for the first time since the 14th of Feburary (Anniversary of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp's death).
Four strange tweets emerged from the paralympic athlete, along with a collection of photos depicting himself posing with amputee children. A message began with all capital lettering "THE LORD IS CLOSE TO THE BROKENHEARTED" followed by a message asking God to "bathe those who live in pain in the river of your healing."
This post was later removed by Pistorius himself.
He also posted "You have the ability to make a difference in someone's life," with additional photos of himself with amputee children. His fourth and final post, "Lord, today I ask that you bathe those who live in pain in the river of your healing. Amen," emerged online on Monday morning, July 13.
Pistorius is presently standing on trial for the murder of his girlfriend. Steenkamp was shot by Pistorius in their home in Pretoria, South Africa. She was in the bathroom when Pistorius shot her three times. Pistorius has maintained that he was not guilty and he had thought Steenkamp an intruder, but the prosecution has alleged that he shot the girl out of anger when she was hiding in the bathroom.
The closing arguments of the trial are to take place on the 8th and 9th of August at the Pretoria High Court in front of Judge Thokozile Masipa. If the athlete is convicted of murder, he might face up to 25 years in prison. The Tweets about the love, pain, and the meaning of life have been noted as cries for help by some and others ward it off as a cry for attention.
