Oscar Pistorius Murder Trial Latest News: Sentencing Hearing on October 13

It has been revealed that Oscar Pistorius spoke to Jenna Edkins, his former girlfriend, hours before murdering Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year, according to a new book written by South African journalists.

Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide last month instead of murder, and awaits sentencing, which is scheduled on October 13, which will decide his fate.

Judge Thokzile Masipa however, has dismissed the phone messages between Pistorius and Edkins saying that they could not be used to prove anything by either the state or the defense.

"Normal relationships are dynamic and unpredictable most of the time, while human beings are fickle," she said, "None of the evidence of a loving relationship, or a relationship turned sour, can assist this court."

Oscar's father, Henke Pistorius, aged 61 years was found speaking of his relationship with his son. "We've said in various conversations and text messages we must get together and have a long talk," Henke had said.

"Since the tragedy, he hasn't had a decent talk with me. He hasn't yet talked to me from his heart. I know it's going to happen. It's going to happen soon and it will be good for both of us," he added.
