‘Orphan Black’ Season 3 Release Date: Show Renewed For 10 More Episodes After High Ratings
Popular sci-fi series 'Orphan Black' has been confirmed for a Season 3, as the previous two installments met with great success in terms of viewership and ratings.
Hollywood Reporter states that the show has recently become very popular and has skyrocketed into one of the most viewed shows at this current date and time. The show's rating have also contributed toward BBC America's best year ratings wise to date.
The report also mentioned that the show's Season 2 premiere on April 19, attracted up to 1.24 million viewers. Also, when the show introduced a DVR boost, that number increased to 1.6 million viewers. The show's Season 2 finale also had some great numbers in terms of viewership, with 1.4 million watching.
Beyond high viewership and top class rating, the upcoming Season 3 will be revered for its casting as well. Lead role star Tatiana Maslany has gained several recognitions for playing more than a dozen characters on the show.
The actress has received a Golden Globe nomination and honors from the Critics' Choice TV Awards, TCA Awards and Canadian Screen Awards. Many speculate that Maslany will be nominated for many more awards for her performance in the upcoming 'Orphan Black' Season 3 that airs in 2015. The series is set to return for 10 more episodes as filming commences sometime in September.
