‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 3: Lori Petty Recast By Netflix; New Season Premiere June 2015
The popular female inmates of Netflix's original 'Orange is the New Black' series return for its third season on June 6, 2015. The renewal of the show came immediately before Season 2 premiered online and after the announcement of the equally-loved 'House of Cards' program.
OITNB Season 3 is packed with exciting new cast members as well as old characters (promoted to series regulars) like Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause. Lori Petty's character, Lolly, who had a brief encounter with Taylor Schilling in Season 2, is also back to give the plot another twist. The 50-year-old actress from Chattanooga starred in 'Free Willy', 'House', and 'Prison Break'.
Petty is also known as Kit (alias Tank Girl) in A 'League of Their Own'.
In Season 2's episode entitled "New York to Chicago," Lolly comforted a traumatized Vause midflight, and those turn of events tell the audience that Lolly's admission to the correctional facility would put Vause in the opposite role.
Also included in the new lineup of guest stars are Blair Brown (Fringe), comedian Mike Birbiglia, and Mary Steenburgen, who is playing Pornstache's mother. Unfortunately, Pablo Schreiber will not return for the third season of Netflix's comedy-drama.
Other casts promoted as regulars include Dascha Polenko (Daya), Samira Wiley (Poussey), Selenis Leyva (Gloria), Nick Sandow (Joe Caputo) and Adrienne C. Moore (Black Cindy).
'Orange is the New Black' bagged 12 nominations for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards including Best Actress on a TV Series, Best Supporting Actress on a TV Series, and Best Director. The awards night premieres on Monday, August 25 at 8 PM EST on NBC.
