‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 3 Release Date, Latest News: DePauw University Lecture By Author
'Orange is the New Black' fans who want to get behind-the-scenes information about the TV series; author Piper Kerman is giving a lecture at DePauw University next year. The session titled 'Lessons Learned Behind Bars' will be held on February 4, 2015, 7:30 PM at the campus' Kresge Auditorium, 605 S. College Ave., Greencastle.
Kerman is the author of the book titled 'Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison', which inspired Netflix's award-winning series starring Taylor Schilling. The 44-year-old author from Boston is going to talk about her time served in prison along with lessons of friendships and behavior by female inmates.
With her is New York Times writer and columnist David Brooks as one of the presenters in Ubben Lecture on October 4. The lecture series are of free admission and is an advocacy of Timothy H. and Sharon Williams Ubben.
Currently, Kerman is a board member of the Women's Prison Association. She wrote in her book, "Our system of 'corrections' is about arm's-length revenge and retribution, all day and all night. Then its overseers wonder why people leave prison more broken than when they went in."
"Most women are not there for violent offenses. Like almost all the women in that place, I endured things like groping from the guards, but no prisoner ever laid a hand on me, and I didn't witness any physical violence," Kerman told Washington Post, 'Orange is the New Black' is hailed as the "best TV show about prison" by the newspaper. It has been nominated for 12 awards at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards held last August 25.
Orange is the New Black is scheduled to return to Netflix next year in 2015, with rumors currently putting the premiere date in June or July 2015. As usual all Season 3 episodes will be available on Netflix as soon as the new season is released.
